ACDI/VOCA Timeline
To celebrate the 50th Anniversary of ACDI/VOCA, an economic development organization that fosters broad-based economic growth, raises living standards and creates vibrant communities, the organization commissioned Levine & Associates to help reintroduce them to the world. To supplement the commemorative identity, videos and two-sided poster, an online timeline was created to trace ACDI/VOCA’s history and impact. The timeline design needed to be responsive, incorporate the new 50th Anniversary identity, and be developed using Word Press for future client CMS maintenance. The design also needed to accommodate multiple formats for highlighted events, including photography, video, quotes and audio. The linear site layout allowed for easy navigation, and the timeline menu feature allowed users to skip to specific decades. Use of bright colors visually separated each decade while ensuring the site was cohesive with the brand. In addition to the timeline design, I was involved with the original poster concept. The approach used needle point to create a statement driven typographic treatment and artful imagery of the globe. The human and hand element connected the design to the people and culture that ACDI/VOCA work with across the world. Our research and ideation found that color and pattern are universal reference points of individual cultural expressions. Designed while at Levine and Associates—Marco Javier, Design Director.
